Missing bodies of 1 American and 2 Australians found in Mexico

The bodies of an American and two Australians were found dead in Mexico over the weekend, FBI San Diego announced in a statement obtained by NBC News on Friday (May 3).

The three people, identified as Jake Robinson, Callum Robinson And Jack Carter Rhode, were located in Santo Tomas, Baja California. On Thursday (May 2), Mexican authorities said they were questioning three people over the disappearance of the three men, although Baja California’s chief prosecutor María Elena Andrade Ramírez would not say whether they were considered suspects or witnesses, but did confirm they were connected to the case in some way. NBC News reported at the time.

Evidence including tents, a white pickup truck and a cell phone believed to possibly belong to one of the missing men were also found, according to Andrade Ramírez. A team of investigators attended the site where the individuals were last seen alive and analyzed “tents and other evidence” found in the area to see if they were connected to the case.

“There is a lot of important information that we cannot make public,” Andrade Ramírez said.

The three men are said to have been visiting Baja California for surfing and camping at the time of their disappearance.
