How local teams fared in Elite Eight

The two cities on the banks of the Coosa River, south of Gadsden, continue to compete in the Alabama high school football playoffs.

With the Elite Eight round already completed, the Southside and Westbrook Christian boys soccer teams have punched their tickets to the Final Four next week. Guntersville, which is also located on a body of water, will be pulling double duty after both their boys and girls teams moved on to Huntsville.

Springville 2, Southside 1

The Lady Panthers season ends at 25-2-1.

Guntersville 2, East Limestone 0

It will be a Wildcat celebration in Huntsville next week as both teams advance.

Westbrook Christian vs. Jacksonville

Match will be played on Saturday at 6pm

Gadsden area high school boys soccer Elite Eight roundup

Fort Payne vs. Randolph

The match is Saturday at 7 p.m

South side 3, Douglas 1

The Panthers rolled into the playoffs again with a win over Douglas. Camren Thompson had another goal and an assist. Alex Mullins and Ouzeiph Toumiba scored goals, while Hayes Cosby made six saves.

In total, it was enough to take the Panthers to their first Final Four in program history.

Guntersville 2, Russellville 1

The highly anticipated matchup between Guntersville and Southside is here after both teams took care of their business.

Westbrook Christian 2, White Plains 0

The Warriors roll on to Huntsville and the Final Four with the dream of returning to Rainbow City with a Blue Map. JD Berndt and Ryder Megois scored goals while Ethan Daffron and Eggo Alabassi assisted.

Westminster Oak Mountain 4, Collinsville 0

The Panthers season ends at 16-6-2.

Tanner 2, Susan Moore 0

The Bulldogs season ends at 17-4-3.
