Kentucky Derby 2024: Live updates, odds, post positions, horses, how to watch from the 150th Run for the Roses

The 150th Kentucky Derby has arrived as the paddock is full for the 2024 edition of the Run for the Roses. This year’s edition of the first leg of the Triple Crown features a huge favorite in Fierceness, who comes to Churchill Downs fresh from a 13 1/2-length victory in the Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park. Catalytic and Grand Mo the First, who finished second and third at Gulfstream, find themselves in a nearly full Derby field of 21 horses, none of which will be brought by legendary trainer Bob Baffert, who remains suspended from the track after his horse, and Initial 2021 Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit failed a post-race drug test.

The Kentucky Derby will air live on NBC, with coverage beginning at 2:30 PM ET.

  • Stars from all kinds of entertainment worlds will be in attendance at the 150th Kentucky Derby, including from the world of WWE. WWE World Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and her husband, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, celebrate in Louisville. This comes as the WWE held its Backlash event in France and announced that WrestleMania 41 will take place in Las Vegas next April.

  • The next race from Louisville is Race 10, which features the $1 million Churchill Downs stakes on dirt tracks over seven furlongs. There are only two races left before the main event of Race 12: the 150th Kentucky Derby.

  • A major disappointment in Race 9 of the day as Trikari, who finished 47-1, pulled off a stunning upset in the $600,000 American Turf Stakes for trainer H. Graham Motion.

  • The horses are not the only eye-catchers during the Kentucky Derby. Run for the Roses is as much about being seen as it is about seeing the races.
