CMCC ousted in the conference semifinals

YORK COUNTY 5, CMCC 2: A three-run first inning from the third-seeded Hawks (16-15) was too much for the second-seeded Mustangs (18-16-1) to overcome in the Yankee Small College Conference semifinals in Old Orchard Beach .

Ashton Smith drove in York County Community College’s first two runs with a single to left field, and Caden Fontaine scored the third when James Erickson reached base safely on an error. The first five York batters of the game reached base safely via a walk or a single.

Central Maine Community College responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning on a Garren Post triple that scored Brandon Gour and Lee Robertson.

Smith also hit a two-run single in the sixth inning. Pitcher Maksim Masse threw all nine innings for York, striking out seven batters and holding the Mustangs to five hits without a walk.

The Hawks struckout fifteen times. CMCC starter Levi Tibbetts, and Lisbon graduate, fanned 10 in five innings, and reliever Garret Harvey struck out five in three innings.

York County advanced against top-seeded Southern Maine CC in the YSCC championship game on Saturday night.

TRINITY SWEEPS BATES: The Bantams (22-14, 10-7 NESCAC) overtook the Bobcats (8-23, 5-13) with a three-run seventh inning in the opener, then Kaysen Shikar pitched a shutout to complete a doubleheader sweep for both teams to complete. regular season finale in Lewiston.

Trinity won the first game 5-4 and the second 7-0.

Kennedy Rogers homered twice in the first game for the Bantams, including one to get the scoring going in the seventh inning. Rogers also had a double. Erin Steed had two doubles and Emily Goddard had a pair of singles.

Bates’ Emma Yen went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, a run and an RBI. Kennedy Jones added two hits and an RBI.

Shikar struckout seven batters and held Bates to four hits, including a double by Jones, in the second game.

Steed again led Trinity with two hits, while Rogers drove in a pair of runs.
